Inter Winger Perisic Confident About Replicating Croatia’s Previous Success At The World Cup

Inter’s Croatian international winger Ivan Perisic believes he and his compatriot’s are in with a shout of replicating Croatia’s third place finish at the 1998 World Cup.

We were still children when they [the Croatian squad at 1998 World Cup defeated Germany in the quarter-finals. We hope to repeat that result, we do not have to be afraid. It will not be easy, but we are all here with the same goal, we have already achieved a great result, but we want more. Our generation and that of 1998 can be compared, and we hope we can do better, we are aware of our quality and I think we are on the right path to obtain a good result,” the 29-year-old said in a press conference ahead of Croatia’s quarter-final clash with tournament hosts Russia on Saturday night.

Perisic has played in all four of Croatia’s games thus far in the tournament, where they have won every single game they have played, and has scored one goal.
