Inter are due to meet Atletico Madrid to discuss a deal for right-back Sime Vrsaljko but continue to monitor alternative options to the Croatian, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri have already made five signings in a hectic first half of the summer transfer window and are now concentrating on finding a replacement for Joao Cancelo, whom the club were unable to purchase on a permanent basis after signing him on loan from Valencia last season.

Vrsaljko is one of four names Inter are following with close attention as Luciano Spalletti’s side prepare to begin pre-season training on Monday, with the list also containing Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi, Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta and Bayer Leverkusen’s Benjamin Henrichs.

According to the Rome-based publication Inter and Atletico have agreed to meet soon to discuss the 26 year-old, who is currently representing Croatia at the FIFA World Cup in Russia and would reportedly be happy to join the Nerazzurri – however no date has been stabilised for the summit yet.

Inter are looking to sign their right-back with calm and are confident they can reach an agreement with the Spanish club before the transfer window closes in mid-August.

Florenzi remains a target but is closing in on signing a contract extension at Roma, while Zappacosta’s future will remain unclear until Chelsea sort out their complex managerial situation. German international Henrichs is the new entry, who has a release clause of €35 million.
