Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello spoke on San Siro, Inter’s new signings and the future of Mauro Icardi in an interview on the sidelines of the Milano CalcioCity event.

“We have always declared that for us San Siro is central, it is a historical icon of the city. It is a stadium that needs modernisation and we want to stay at San Siro and develop a project for the city as Milan needs a modern stadium. We are waiting for more precise news on Milan’s situation and we are always available to share new ideas for San Siro with the Rossoneri for the good of the city.”

Speaking on the new signings Antonello added, “I do not want to talk about individuals, there is a team that has to reach an important level of competitiveness, we have reinforced all the departments, the market is open, we will see what else we can do.”

Antonello proceeded to speak about Icardi, amid ongoing paper talk that the club are set to sit down with him and discuss new contract terms.

“We have always said that he is our captain and a key player, there is great enthusiasm, he has welcomed his new team-mates at Inter, in the coming weeks, if necessary we will discuss the renewal.”

Antonello also spoke on the club’s objectives for the coming season.

“The expectations are positive, there is great enthusiasm on the part of the fans, we want to improve upon last year’s position in the league. There is a gap to fill but there is enthusiasm and there is also a lot of work to do.”
