Real Betis are closing in on completing the signing of William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon accoring to a report from ESPN.

All that is stopping Los Verdiblancos from completing the €25 million deal is receiving the player’s blessing. The 26-year-old has drawn interest from Inter in recent weeks and has a five-year contract worth €2.5 million per season offer on the table from the Spaniards.

The report goes on to state that if and when Betis complete the signing of the Portuguese international, he will become the second most expensive signing in the club’s history after the €30 million signing of Denilson back in 1998 from Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

Carvalho made 38 appearances across all competitions for Sporting – where he still has two years
left on his contract – last season and appeared in all four of Portugal’s games at the World Cup as the reigning European Champions reached the last 16 stage before being knocked out by Uruguay.
