With a deal for Mousa Dembele looking less and less likely, Inter have identified Argentine play-maker Leandro Paredes as a target to complete their midfield. They will face competition for the Zenit St Petersburg player, however, with Milan also interested in making a move.

The Rossoneri have been following the player for some time, and Sky Sport report that he is their preferred option for the role, ahead of Croatian Milan Badelj who is available on a free transfer after his contract with Fiorentina expired.

The Argentine is no stranger to Serie A or Luciano Spalletti, having previously represented Roma and Empoli. He moved to Zenit last season at the request of Roberto Mancini. Paredes made 28 appearances in his first Premier Liga season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.

Inter face the Russian club in a friendly later this month, and could use the opportunity to further discuss the deal for the midfielder.
