Hector Herrera, the Mexican midfield of FC Porto who was linked with Inter in recent days, has opened the door for a renewal with the Portuguese club.

Following his sides friendly match with Newcastle, the player delivered important signals about his future: “I will only leave Porto if they decide to sell me.”

If the player finds himself in the future plans of coach Sergio Conceiçao, then his story may continue in Portugal. The 28 year old, who joined Porto from Mexican side CF Pachuca in 2013, has made over 150 appearances with the Dragoes.

Capable of covering both attacking and defensive roles in the centre of the park, the player attracted the interest of a number of clubs due to a contract that was set to expire in June 2019. The idea of signing Herrera on the cheap was shut down by Porto, however, who continued to demand his release clause (approximately €40 million) in order to agree to the sale. Now, without the will of the player to help force a move, a transfer seems less likely.
