Liverani: “I Coached Vrsaljko At Genoa, He Is A Top Player”

Fabio Liverani knows Croatian prospect Sime Vrsaljko from his time at Genoa coaching the Croat in 2013. Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport interviewed the former director of Perugia and Lazio in order to talk about the fullback currently rumored to join Inter:

Should he be a good transfer if everything goes well and he joins the team?

“It would be an extraordinary operation, Inter would secure a player who is one of the best in his position and he would come back to the Serie A in a decisive period of his career. I am convinced that Spalletti will enjoy coaching him.”

How did he present himself five years ago when he arrived in Genoa?

“His personality immediately struck me, both on and off the pitch. And also by his enormous athletic force, as soon as he joined the group we were having athletic test and his result was one of the best. His stubbornness and his spirit of sacrifice also made him one of the easiest player to coach.”

What is his best talent?

“He has a born tactical flexibility that allows him to cover the entire side with effective passing in the back to the danger and quality of an attacker. Then he is a true leader who knows how to enthusiast his teammates.”
