After the bombshell revelation last night regarding Inter’s interest in Luka Modric, no real updates have emerged today. That is until now when Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti gave an update regarding the situation.

According to the report, Luka Modric, who is currently on holiday in Sardinia, is expected to return back to Spain and Madrid this weekend or at the very latest early next week at which point a meeting with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has been scheduled.

Marchetti reports that Inter are hoping that Modric will inform Perez that he wants to leave the club although it is far from certain that the former Tottenham midfielder will do this. It is also far from a certainty that Real Madrid will accept Modric’s request to leave after having already lost Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

However, Inter continue to hope that a breakthrough can be made soon and that he soon can join Sime Vrsaljko at Inter, the player who he reportedly is closest to and who he often has dinner with in Madrid.
