Milan’s new Sporting Director, Leonardo, is looking to make a move on former Inter midfielder Matteo Kovacic. The Croatia and Real Madrid midfielder has failed to make an impact at the Spanish giants since his move from Inter three years ago and now their city rivals are looking to bring him back.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica reports that Milan are looking to build on the signings of Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara from Juventus in a deal that saw Leonardo Bonucci return to Turin just a year after leaving them for Milan. With Leonardo keen to impress in his new role he is looking at the young Croatian as his next reinforcement for a Milan side that wants to improve on a poor league finish last season in Serie A.

Milan are not the only team thought to be interested in signing the midfielder with his former club and Milan’s city rivals Inter, also keeping an eye on the situation.
