West Ham Could Replace Obiang With Inter’s Joao Mario

Inter’s Portuguese international midfielder Joao Mario could finally be on his way out from the club Sky Sport Italia’s transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

According to the report, a return to Premier League outfit West Ham is still the likeliest destination for the former Sporting player since Hammers Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang is pushing for a return back to the Serie A and Sampdoria.

This would open up a spot in the middle of the Hammers midfield which is Joao Mario’s preferred position. Di Marzio reports further that West Ham manager Mauricio Pellegrini is looking for a replacement for Obiang and is currently deciding between Joao Mario and Juventus Stefano Sturaro.

Joao Mario joined West Ham in January of this year on loan where he during 6 months featured 14 times across all competitions scoring twice in the process. The manager David Moyes had an option to sign him but after he was dismissed the Hammers decided against activating the clause until a new manager had settled in.
