Former Genoa manager Ivan Juric has weighed in on the current situation regarding compatriot Luka Modric who has drawn interest from Inter in recent days.

“It can happen. It is now clear in football that if a player wants to change team, he changes it. It would be an extraordinary signing not only for Inter, who has already done enough, but for all of Italian football, a blow that can have the same impact as Cristiano Ronaldo, if not more. Ronaldo is a fantastic finisher, he plays to score goals, but Modric creates the game, Modric is an artist,” Juric said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juric, who served as Inter’s assistant manager for the 2011 season, then tipped Inter to seriously challenge Juventus for the title.

“Inter has everything they need to try to win the Scudetto and it should not be taken for granted that Juventus will win it”

Juric concluded the interview by speaking on the transformation Marcelo Brozovic has underwent in recent months.

“The turning point was when Spalletti pulled him back and played him deeper in front of the defence, he did very well. It was a great surprise.”
