Luka Modric appears to be Inter’s number one target to reinforce the midfield but it is of course necessary for the Nerazzurri to have a list of alternatives in mind, even more so with many believing it is ‘mission impossible’ for Inter to land the Real Madrid superstar.
Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio talked late in to the night with manager Luciano Spalletti at the club’s Appiano Gentile training base last night, discussing various alternate profiles to the 32-year-old Croatian, who, according to Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, will only be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer if his monstrous €750 million release clause is activated.
According to a report from Corriere della Sera, Boca Juniors and Colombia international Wilmar Barrios’ name was mentioned during the talks between Ausilio and Spalletti. The 24-year-old is under contract with the Argentine giants for a further three seasons until the end of the 2020/21 season.
