Inter could revive their interest for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian before the end of the transfer window, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Darmian, 28, has made no secret of his desire to return to Italy after three seasons in the Premier League but has yet to find a club willing to invest in him, with Juventus and Napoli both having pursued other targets after initially expressing an interest in the right-back.

Inter are currently focused on their search for a new central midfielder as the transfer window enters its final fortnight, with Luka Modric heading a lengthy list of supposed targets, however the Rome-based publication believes that Piero Ausilio could yet make another signing in a different department.

Should the Nerazzurri decide to pursue another full-back, with Kwadwo Asamoah having spent plenty of time in midfield during the club’s pre-season friendlies, then Darmian would become a realistic target for them, provided that United accept the same formula Inter used to sign Sime Vrsaljko, or rather a paid loan with an option to buy.

However the paper does not rule out the possibility that they could sign another striker as well, with Luciano Spalletti known to be keen on securing an understudy to Mauro Icardi.
