Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has reflected on Saturday night’s 1-0 friendly victory over Lyon in which he scored the winning goal.

“The goal was very nice, but I am happy because we played very well against very tough opponents. They committed a lot of fouls. I have to get used to it, but I come from a physical League like the Argentine one,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I admit that the start to my adventure at Inter is going very well, we are working on what the coach asks us to do. I am happy with how we are playing in pre-season, but we can not relax. It is necessary to continue on this path because we are approaching the beginning of important competitions and we will have to be ready.”

The Argentine forward proceeded to speak on the support he has received from Interisti since arriving.

“It is a feeling that I like, but I must continue to earn their affection and esteem step by step. I will always try to better myself because people’s support is still increasing and for someone like me it is fundamental.”

Lautaro concluded the interview by speaking on his relationship with Mauro Icardi and manager Luciano Spalletti.

“Mauro Icardi helps me a lot both on and off the pitch. Mauro is a great teammate and he is helping me achieve my objectives.

“He [Spalletti] also helps me a lot, I am still learning Italian and I am from another type of football, but Spalletti is a very good coach and I have to give my best for this club.”
