Inter have their eyes locked on Real Madrid’s Luka Modric but in the event that they are unable to acquire him, they have alternatives in mind.

Independiente’s Maximiliano Meza is one player to have been identified as an alternative to the Croatian, despite the fact he traditionally plays a more advanced role than what Modric does, according to a report from SportMediaset published today.

The 26-year-old Argentine international impressed Nerazzurri officials at the World Cup and initial contact was made with his representatives after the World Cup.

SportMediaset’s report also confirms that Zenit St Petersburg’s Leandro Paredes is an alternative that Inter have in mind if they miss out on Modric.

Paredes is no stranger to Serie A football having previously played for Roma, Empoli and Chievo Verona and is also no stranger to Inter manager Luciano Spalletti who he worked under at Roma prior to his transfer to Russia last summer.
