The Croatian contingency at Inter could grow even if Real Madrid’s Luka Modric wont arrive at Inter, according to Spanish media outlet Cadena Cope.

According to the report, Croatian international midfielder Mateo Kovacic has officially handed in his transfer request at the club as the Los Merengues try their best to convince him to reconsider as the Spanish giants see him as the replacement to countryman Luka Modric who is currently being heavily linked with a move to the Serie A and Inter.

Kovacic’s future at Real Madrid is heavily linked to that of Modric meaning that if the latter leaves the former will not be allowed to leave and vice versa. According to the report Inter are prepared to welcome Kovacic back to the club with open arms.

Mateo Kovacic joined Inter back in January 2013 after the club sold Coutinho to Liverpool but was sold to Real Madrid in the summer of 2015.
