If Inter are unable to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid, Argentinian midfielder Leandro Paredes will be the most likely alternative Italian media outlet TuttoSport reports in today’s newspaper.

Paredes is currently playing his trade in the Russian Premier League with Zenit St. Petersburg after being transferred from Roma last season where he played under Inter coach Luciano Spalletti. During the 2014/15 and 2016/17 seasons, he spent time on loan at Empoli and Chievo and therefore is no stranger to the Serie A.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric continues to be Inter’s top target for the time being. Paredes will only begin to be an option if the Modric dream is to fade away, and then the new target will become a player Ausilio will actively try to sign.

The future of any transfer concerning the Argentinian midfielder will be determined once the final decision concenring the Modric transfer saga has been made.
