Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Roma in the International Champions Cup, Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui was questioned by journalists during his post match press conference on the future of Inter target Luka Modric at the club amid continued interest from the Nerazzurri.

“Modric’s future? the president has already spoken and I can not add more,” Lopetegui, who sensationally quit his post as Spanish national team just days before the World Cup kicked off this summer to take up the position vacated by Zinedine Zidane, said.

Lopetegui also spoke on the future of former Inter protege Mateo Kovacic and confirmed the Croatian youngster has made it clear that he wants to leave.

“If we lose a player of the level of Kovacic  it will mean that we will have to find another of the same quality. Mateo is very important for us but he has shown the desire to go away and we will see what will happen but certainly there is still nothing on the table.”
