Many have suggested that Luka Modric’s signing would complete Inter but Italian pundit Luigi Garlando, in his column for Gazzetta dello Sport, has suggested that rather than being the icing on the cake, Modric is in fact the cake.
“Today the captain of Inter is a captain with 0 appearances in the Champions League, while Modric has already won 4 and would come in off the back off being in the final of a World Cup.
“Lucas Torreira could have gone well for Inter also but ended up at Arsenal, or even better the Brazilian Arthur who will become the new Xavi at Barcelona someone Inter followed too timidly. Modric’s genius and charisma makes him the cake, not the icing and it is worthwhile for Inter to keep knocking at the door for Luka.”
Inter have courted Modric for around a month now and while it is understood that Modric is determined to move to Inter, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in particular is making things difficult.
