Luka Modric will meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez today to hold crunch talks over his future with the club amid ongoing links to Inter according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Perez is convinced that he can tempt Modric in to staying by offering him a new and improved deal but Modric, through his agents, has let it be known to Perez that he is not interested in staying and wants a move to Inter.

Despite this, Los Blancos believe he will stay as evidenced by his selection for the upcoming UEFA Super Cup match with city rivals Atletico Madrid on Wednesday August 15.

The report from the Rome based news publication adds that Inter are willing to wait until the bitter end to sign Modric and the deal could come alive in the final 48 hours of the Italian transfer window that shuts in one week’s time.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio and manager Luciano Spalletti met with intermediary Giuseppe Riso on Wednesday night to further discuss the move but until the meeting – which other outlets have claimed could even be postponed today – takes place, Inter can only sit and wait.
