Over the course of pre-season Lautaro Martinez has shown himself to be more than just a striker and as a result, he has now given manager Luciano Spalletti some more tactical flexibility in the eyes of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Spalletti will more than likely stick with the tried and tested 4-2-3-1 system that served Inter well last season and will see Inter have a 3 [midfielders] + 1 [striker] attack in which Perisic will play on the left, Nainggolan through the middle and Lautaro could settle on Nainggolan’s other side in this system giving opponents a difficult 2+1 attack to face. Alternatively, Nainggolan and Lautaro could play as the two behind club captain Mauro Icardi in a 3-4-2-1 system.
Lautaro can not only support Icardi by playing just a bit behind him but also move back outside and open the game up as well as getting on the end of Perisic’s long balls.
