Milano based newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the path to bringing Croatian international Luka Modric from Spanish side Real Madrid to Inter is still very much open and alive.
In fact according to the report, until the Italian transfer window closes at 20.00 CET this Friday, anything can happen and the fact that Modric went to Tallin for the European Supercup game does not change anything.
The newspaper reports that “Until Friday at 8 pm CET, anything can happen, including the telephone call that would unblock the deal. But it will be difficult, partly because Modric can not go in clinch with Real Madrid partly because of the nature of the deal that Inter can offer, in fact the only deal that Inter can offer which is a loan deal with a right to redeem. In any case, Inter has left a free space in the squad for Modric and should the deal go south, Inter will consider this year’s summer transfer market as closed. Inter’s management is not pursuing another midfielder should Luka remain with Real Madrid. The space that was missing is now occupied by Keita Baldé.”
