The idea of trying to bring Luka Modric from Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid to Inter and the Serie A originated from Steven Zhang, the son of Inter patron Zhang Jindong, who wanted to give Inter fans a big signing after having watched what the FIFA World Cup Most Valuable Player did during the month long tournament in Russia this summer.
This according to Turin based sports newspaper Tuttosport who explains that: “The Nerazzurri continues to believe in the possibility of perfecting this deal, even if time starts to be a negative factor and the margins for a deal seem to be more and more reduced. But no matter how this story will end, Inter fans can console themselves by what lay in the future: If this is a sign of the ambitions of Zhang Jr, then Inter fans can expect to have a lot of fun in the coming transfer markets, especially now when the restrictions imposed by the UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Rules will be a bit loosened.”
