Former Inter defender Daniele Adani spoke in length on Inter ahead of the coming season in an interview with Tuttosport, wherein he firstly spoke on Inter being the Anti-Juve and the mercato.

“Inter are not alone in being a possible Anti-Juve, because I like the look of Roma with all their young players, like Milan, there are many variables, but the transfer market has strengthened these teams in particular, while Napoli seems to be bit behind. Depending on the performances of their three stars, Immobile, Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic, Lazio, like last year, will be up there.

“Ausilio and Gardini have signed important players in every department, Inter has been completed with functional, quality players with different characteristics from those already present in the squad.”

Adani proceeded to focus on Inter’s striking duo of Lautaro Martinez and Mauro Icardi.

“Lautaro is a second striker with so many qualities, he has to learn, learn new skills, but he has infinite potential, and his performance will depend a lot on Icardi’s desire to give him space. I expect a lot from Icardi this season, he must find the pleasure of playing for and with the others. If Icardi opens to the team, he will not only score more goals but increase the performance of Inter overall.”

Adani concluded by discussing who he thinks could have a Marcelo Brozovic style transformation this season.

“Spalletti has a lot of players at his disposal, but I think about Perisic, he’s physically unstoppable, but he has to stop thinking from a number 10 point of view. Perisic does not have those characteristics and when he tries some games, he makes mistakes. He has become very strong because he has unique characteristics, and I think if Perisic learns to sacrifice as a full-back, but continuing to think from the wing, Inter could become devastating because Spalletti in some races could line him behind Keita.”
