Having tied Luciano Spalletti down with a new contract, next on the agenda for Inter management is doing the same with club captain and star man Mauro Icardi according to a report from Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter want to extend with the Argentine for a further season through to the end of the 2021/22 season. The last contract renewal signed was signed in October 2016 and it is unlikely it will take until then to get this one over the line – despite the fact his wife and agent Wanda Nara is allegedly demanding he be paid some €8 million per season, a huge increase on his current salary.

The Nerazzurri have strengthened significantly over the summer bringing in no less than seven new faces for the first team to prepare for the long awaited return to the Champions League and this has equally strengthened Icardi’s desire to compete with the best.
