Despite the arrival of Luka Modric still being a possibility, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti is preparing for this Sunday’s Serie A opener with Sassuolo without the Croatian, regardless of whether he arrives today or tomorrow a report from Sky Sport 24 suggests.

Sky Sport recall a similar situation that also involved a signing from Real Madrid. Back in 2009 under Jose Mourinho, Inter signed Wesley Sneijder ahead of the Milan derby, despite little time in Milan, the Portuguese manager put the Dutch playmaker right in and the decision paid off as Inter beat their city rivals 4-0.

The report goes on to state that it is very much possible that Inter will stick with the same side that were 1-0 victors over Atletico Madrid last Saturday in the final pre-season encounter. Dalbert may drop out though if Ivan Perisic manages to reach the required fitness levels. The Brazilian defender would be replaced at left back by Kwadwo Asamoah while Perisic would start at left wing.
