Following the Ponte Morandi bridge tragedy in Genoa, Lega Serie A have taken some action to honour the lives of those the tragedy claimed.

The Genoese clubs Genoa and Sampdoria requested for their matches with Milan and Fiorentina respectively to be postponed in honour of those who lost their lives and this request was duly granted by the Lega.

The Lega also announced that as a mark of respect, all of the other teams competing over the opening weekend will partake in a minute’s silence before kick off and also wear a black armband on their shirt.

“In all the other matches scheduled for the first round of the Serie A TIM, in memory of the victims of Genoa, one minute of silence will be observed before the start and the teams will take to the field with black armbands,” a statement on the matter read on the Lega Serie A website.
