Former Inter manager Claudio Ranieri has spoken on the rebirth of Italian football while tipping Inter to be the main challengers to Juventus for this season’s Serie A title.

“Juventus is the flagship team of our football but the return of Milan clubs is central to the rebirth of Italian football. Inter are Juventus’s main rivals for the Scudetto this season meanwhile Gonzalo Higuain is the right man for the Rossoneri,” Ranieri, who managed Inter between 2011/12 said in an interview with La Stampa.

Ranieri, who is currently out of work having last managed French club Nantes, proceeded to discuss Inter’s ongoing pursuit of Real Madrid star Luka Modric

“I do not think the deal will be completed, but then again I am not aware of any private agreements between the Croatian and Florentino Perez. The Nerazzurri are already the anti-Juventus and would be even more so if they somehow signed Modric too.”
