In the end, Inter goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio will need to be satisfied with a return to Serie C.
FCInterNews have verified that the player, who impressed between the sticks last season whilst on loan at Renate, will be back in the same league wearing the colours of Siena. In addition to the Tuscan club, Perugia were said to be eager for the player but ended up signing Gabriel from Milan instead.
The 21 year old goalkeeper has already given his okay to Siena and it is expected that the operation will close within the next 48 hours (remembering that, for Serie C teams, the transfer market remains open until the 25th of August).
Once this is finalised, the hope of the player and his new club is that they will be ‘rescued’ from Serie C and instead be able to compete in Serie B. There is still no decision on whether the second division will begin with 19 or 22 teams but, should the latter be agreed, then Siena would be promoted.
