On the eve of their opening round clash against Levante, Real Betis manager Quique Setien discussed the rumours that the Andalusian team are interested in signing Joao Mario.

A number of reports suggest that the Spanish side are counting on the will of the player to force the move, and the Spanish coach did nothing to quell those rumours: “Many players want to join our side, not just Joao Mario. The fact that the club is able to attract big name players is a positive sign for us. It shows that we are doing things well, and this must make us proud.”

With the transfer market coming to an end, Inter have still been unable to find a buyer for their Portuguese midfielder. The player has been shopped around Europe since the start of the window, but the Nerazzurri were determined to secure a permanent deal in order to recoup some of the money the invested in the player only two seasons ago.

With the player seemingly out of Luciano Spalletti’s plans for the following season, the club may need to lower their demands.
