Inter defender Milan Skriniar risks missing out on tomorrow night’s Serie A opener away to Sassuolo according to a report from Premium Sport.

The Slovakian defender picked up a thigh strain in training and has not trained with the rest of the team for the past two days putting his presence – at least as a starter – at the MAPEI Stadium in doubt. Inter manager Luciano Spalletti could opt to place Skriniar on the bench for the match with the Neroverdi.

The report goes on to state that in light of this news, Miranda and new signing Stefan de Vrij will form the heart of the Inter defence for the first league match.

Skriniar joined Inter last summer from Sampdoria and far exceeded all expectations of him. He went on to play every minute of the league campaign as Inter secured their return to Champions League football and his performances did not go unnoticed with alleged interest from Manchester United and Barcelona believed to be there over the course of the summer transfer window.
