After the rumours coming from the Spanish press yesterday, Gazzetta dello Sport today also confirms that Luka Modric has cleared Inter of any wrongdoing and, in front of FIFA, has confirmed how he made contact with the Nerazzurri and not the other way around, as Madrid President Florentino Perez had claimed.

After receiving the complaint from Real Madrid and Inter’s reply denying the accusations, Fifa then asked the Croatian midfielder for his input. The Gazzetta confirms that the midfielder agreed with Inter’s statements, that is to say, he was the one to contact the club and not the other way round.

Modric’s decision to contact Inter was driven by the desire to play with his three Croatian compatriots and hence declaring himself available to try and force his exit from Real Madrid. If the outcome of this news were confirmed, it would mean immediate closure of the case by FIFA, which had initiated a preliminary investigation into the situation.
