The big news ahead of Inter’s clash against Sassuolo does not come from the transfer market, but from a probable absence that is unprecedented.

Milan Skriniar did not train with the team for the whole training session yesterday and at this point it seems unlikely that Spalletti will risk the Slovakian center-half in the first game of the season.

Gazzetta dello Sport therefore reports that the Slovakian international defender will not be a starter: “After a first season at Inter in which he played 38 matches out of 38, Skriniar could today sit on the bench and make way for the partnership of De Vrij and Miranda. Then there is a question mark over Dalbert and Perisic, with Asamoah waiting to know whether he will play as a full-back or a winger.”

Keita is raring to go, but he may have to settle for a place on the bench having only arrived last week from Monaco.

Probable Formation:

Inter (4-2-3-1):  Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Miranda, Dalbert; Vecino, Brozovic; Politano, Martinez, Asamoah; Icardi.
