Milan Skriniar is expected to start on the bench for Inter’s season-opening Serie A match against Sassuolo on Sunday evening, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Slovakian centre-back played every minute of every league match under Luciano Spalletti during the 2017-18 season but is still suffering from a slight muscle fatigue sustained on Thursday, and is thus unlikely to be risked at the Mapei Stadium.

Miranda and summer signing Stefan De Vrij will start in central defence for the Nerazzurri against Roberto De Zerbi’s side, with Danilo D’Ambrosio and Dalbert in pole position for the full-back positions.

Radja Nainggolan and Joao Mario are both unavailable through injury, leaving Matteo Politano, Lautaro Martinez and Kwadwo Asamoah to line up behind Mauro Icardi in attack.

In midfield Matias Vecino is favourite to partner Marcelo Brozovic.

Inter’s probable starting XI is therefore the following: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Miranda, Dalbert; Vecino, Brozovic; Politano, Martinez, Asamoah; Icardi.
