Gazzetta dello Sport have reviewed Inter’s performance in their 1-0 opening day defeat against Sassuolo, comparing the first half performance to the second half where they appeared to recover slightly albeit not enough to draw level and gain at least a point.

“Inter were slow and unproductive with the ball and the defence was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, especially on the left hand side with Dalbert and Miranda, who suffered against the fitness levels and precise movements of their opponents, without finding any solutions. Icardi and Lautaro Martinez were just the tip of the iceberg for the Nerazzurri’s difficulties while Brozovic and Vecino were not allowed to breathe.”

Ivan Perisic being substituted on at half time allowed the Nerazzurri to recover in the eyes of the Milan based newspaper.

“Inter recovered a bit when Spalletti corrected the team at the start of the second half by bringing in Perisic for a confused Dalbert and Asamoah moved back in defence. The defence suffered much less afterwards and Perisic at least created something, like that cross on which Icardi arrived late sending the ball in to the stand.”
