Italian pundit Mario Sconcerti reflected upon Inter’s opening day 1-0 defeat away to Sassuolo.

“It had seemed that Inter had found propriety, order and the right determination to get results but it’s not like that. It can happen where you are not given a penalty but you can not just let go of the game so easily and be technically inconsistent. If this was supposed to be the answer an Juve, Napoli, Roma, then they sank slightly off of a cliff.”

Sconcerti proceeded to discuss the tactical decisions taken by manager Luciano Spalletti.

“Inter seemed confused by the initial ideas of Spalletti. Spalletti will have to spend days and days now to try and find out what went wrong for the team that he himself had defined as a team ready for any opponent. They are not short on individuals, they have many who are talented but as a collective they are completely lacking.”
