Santos Banking On Gabigol – They Won’t Sign Any Other Strikers Until 2019

Santos will postpone signing any new strikers until Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s loan spell from Inter expires club president Jose Carlos Peres has stated.

Barbosa has rekindled form that lead to Inter forking out €30 million for him two summers ago, when he was labelled one of the top players for the future, upon his return to his boyhood club and the Brazilian giants are more than happy to count upon the Brazilian youngster alone for the remainder of the year.

Asked on whether new striker signings will be made this year by Gazeta Esportiva, Peres explained, “Only in 2019 will we evaluate players, among other things Gabigol is playing very well at the moment.”

The 21-year-old forward, who struggled to adapt at Inter following his big money move, has made 34 appearances this season across all competitions for the Estádio Urbano Caldeira side wherein he has managed to score 15 goals and tally one assist.
