Noted Italian agent Giovanni Branchini was interviewed by RMC Sport today where he spoke on a wide variety of subjects including Inter’s efforts to sign Luka Modric as well as Arturo Vidal.

According to Branchini explained that: “Our world needs to have some balance and not any excesses. I knew that Vidal was never Inter’s first choice who in fact dreamed of signing Modric. The Nerazzurri couldn’t move forward to close the deal with Vidal and they couldn’t either tell the player that he is their fall-back option. During this period of waiting Barcelona came in and you never say no to them.”

Branchini continued by explaining what was going on behind the scenes concerning Luka Modric: “I have to say that Ausilio always told me in private that it would be impossible to sign Modric because of Cristiano Ronaldo. If he had not left Real Madrid things could have gone differently.

“Inter tried to sign him because the player gave them the green light to try and bring him to Milano. Sometimes you have to take risks” Branchini concluded.
