Ahead of Sunday’s clash between Inter and Torino, Corriere dello Sport have recalled when the stadium announcer did not even announce Toro manager Walter Mazzarri’s name pre-match while in charge at Inter so to not heighten tensions between Interisti and Mazzarri.

Mazzarri was not a popular figure during his 15 month tenure in charge at the San Siro and as his time on the bench neared an end, the stadium announcer at the San Siro even spared him of public embarrassment by not mentioning him pre-match so to not have him jeered by the fans in stands.

Of Mazzarri’s Inter, not even as many as a handful of players remain on the club’s books with Samir Handanovic, Mauro Icardi, Andrea Ranocchia and Danilo D’Ambrosio the only players to have played under him.

Since his sacking in November 2014, Mazzarri spent just shy of two years out before managing Watford for the 2016/17 season before taking up his current position at Torino back in January at the mid-way point of the 2017/18 season.
