Gazzetta dello Sport have pointed out a key inability of the Inter squad of last season that was also seen in the 1-0 defeat to Sassuolo on the opening weekend of the 2018/19 season.

The matches against Roma and Lazio – both at the Stadio Olimpico – aside, Inter were unable to recover and come back and win in games they conceded first in, on no less than nine occasions.

In three of these nine affairs, the Nerazzurri were able to claw back a draw but on the other six occasions they failed to do so and lost the match meaning they only picked up nine points from situations wherein they found themselves behind over the course of the 2017/18 Serie A season.

Overall, this places Inter 11th in this category and while they are just about in the middle of the pack, it is clear that they need to work on these situations and had Inter managed it more than they did, they would not have been forced to fight until the very last minute to achieve Champions League qualification.
