It was a Serie A debut to be remembered for Giangiacomo Magnani who, last Sunday, contributed to Sassuolo’s impressive victory over Inter at the Mapei Stadium.
The central defender put in a striking performances as he stifled reigning Capocanonniere Mauro Icardi, limiting the striker to only 18 touches.
Speaking at his official presentation, the 22 year old expressed his own amazement at his recent progress: !I can hardly believe what has happened in the last year. I’ve moved from Siracusa in Serie C to Serie A – and it is a huge jump. I struggle to describe the emotions I feel.”
When asked about the players which inspire him, the Italian had a Nerazzurri on his list: “I think it is good to have a point of reference. There have been many champions, but I do not have an idol above all. You can learn from everyone. Skriniar, for example, is a player that I can take a lot from.”
