In his editorial for Tuttomercatoweb.com, transfer expert Luca Marchetti explored the overall value of each Serie A squad based on the values listed on Transfermarkt.it.

Unsurprisingly, Juventus are listed as the most valuable squad in Italy with an overall value of €768 million. The club invested €503 million to raise the level of its team, leaving it with an overall difference of €265 million.

While the Turin giants have the highest value, much of this is due to is ability to spend more on the market. If we look at the team which has raised the value of its squad the most, that award falls to Inter. The Nerazzurri squad is now valued at €557 million, but the club only needed to invest €253 million to build it. This means the club has grown the value of its players by €303 million. Not only is this value the greatest in Italy, it is the sixth best in all of Europe.

Marchetti goes on to praise the work of Inter management. Not only did the club do well to work within the strict parameters of Financial Fair Play, but also through detailed scouting and smart investment in players such as Icardi, Brozovic and Perisic who have significantly grown in value since joining the club.

Third in the ranking of ‘differences’ was Napoli, with a positive growth of €256 million. This value is very similar to that of Juventus, but the club of De Laurentis spent almost half of what the Bianconeri did to create this value.
