Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni will officiate Inter’s first home game of the season against Torino on Sunday, the Lega Calcio have confirmed.

Mazzoleni only took charge of one match involving the Nerazzurri last season, when Luciano Spalletti’s side recorded a 4-0 victory away to Udinese on 6 May.

However Inter are an important team in the 44 year-old’s refereeing career as they were involved in the first match he officiated in Serie A, when they drew 2-2 with Cagliari at the Stadio Sant’Elia in 2006.

In total Mazzoleni oversaw 16 matches in Italy’s top flight last season, including Juventus’s 3-1 win over Milan in March and Fiorentina’s 3-0 victory against Napoli on matchday 35, when the Partenopei were reduced to ten men inside six minutes and saw their hopes of winning the league title all but ended.

Like with Inter, Mazzoleni only took charge of one game involving Torino, which fell on the second week of the campaign when the Granata beat Sassuolo 3-0.
