Sandro Mazzola spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about Inter and their upcoming game against Torino. Both teams are coming into this game after a defeat and are both looking to get their first victories of the season.

“Inter have been hurt by the referees decisions week and didn’t perform very well but are looking to have a better game against Torino. On a similar note, Torino have also complained about the lack of use of VAR on a presumed penalty and I agree with that complaint. I believe that referees should be free to consult the replays anytime the action on the pitch leaves him with some doubts, even if they are minimal. Regardless of how long it takes, the whole goal of VAR is to reduce the amount of errors during a game.”

Who would you choose between Icardi and Belotti?

“I would choose Belotti, I find him to be a more complete striker. Everytime he gets the ball he gives you the feeling that he can do something unpredictable. He makes movements that open spaces to provide his team with goalscoring opportunities. He definitely beongs in the national team.”

Can Icardi form a good partnership with Lautaro Martinez?

“It is important to look at what Spalletti has done over the past few months. Spalletti has a specific tactical and tested design that does not include two strikers. I think it’s too soon to see if they will work together, but I’m sure Spalletti has his ideas.”

He then talks about Spalletti and what he’s done with the team over the Summer: “Every square is a story in and of itself, Spalletti is very involved in the rebuilding process at Inter. He has a strong group of players in every position, but the league is not won in the Summer.”
