Player Ratings – Inter 2 – 2 Torino: Mazzarri Rains On Inter’s First-Half Parade

Inter absolutely nailed the first half with a perfect performance only to fall apart in the second half with an utter shambles of a performance. Only Inter can end up drawing 2-2 after a first 45 minute performance like that. Pazza Inter indeed.

Samir Handanovic – 5: Had nothing to do in the first half. Partially at fault for both goals. Was caught asleep and on his heels on the first and had weak hands on the second.

Sime Vrsaljko – 6: Decent debut for the Croatian wing back. Did the basics right but it was clear he hasn’t trained with his new team-mates enough. Steady.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5.5: Some great long passes in the first half. Even won the free kick which led to the second goal. Shocking second half, he was the target of Torino’s attacks.

Stefan De Vrij – 6: Almost gave him man of the match but Inter didn’t really defend well in the second half. Moved the ball well all throughout and scored off a set piece.

Milan Skriniar – 6: He’s continued where he left off. It’s nice to see him play in the defence but in the second half, just like his team mates, he was not up to the usual high standard.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6: Too bad for him his injury came when he was coming off, but like Sime he had a decent debut. Needs to work on his partnership with Perisic.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Frustrating game for him. He was the fulcrum in the first half and almost moved like a pendulum. Torino stopped him well later on and stopped Inter.

Matias Vecino – 5.5: Goes missing during games. Last season he failed to recover properly from the injury but this season it seems more of the same. Needs to improve.

Matteo Politano – 6.5: Always gives 100%. Leaves every ounce of energy on the pitch. Took some fantastic set pieces and tried to create some openings with quick passes.

Ivan Perisic – 6: Great goal and that set up a fantastic first 45 for his team but doesn’t combine well with Dalbert or Asamoah and slowly fades away until the end.

Mauro Icardi – 6: Was involved in a lot of play and created a decent assist for Ivan. Inter created one decent chance which he fluffed towards the end. Needs a goal.

Henrique Dalbert – 5: Yes its not easy to play the San Siro and replace Asamoah, but Dalbert’s decision making was atrocious. It felt like he always made the wrong move.

Balde Keita – 6: Brought the impact Spalletti wanted in terms of pace and running with the ball but that final pass and combination play needs to be worked on.

Lautaro Martinez – N/A: Was on for 90 seconds and could have had an assist had Icardi hit that far post cross well. Nothing much to write about.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: Inter tried to adapt to the opponents and then excelled at it. Then Inter stopped doing the good things. Spalletti was outcoached today in the second half. By Mazzarri.

Paolo Mazzoleni – 5: Bookings to both sides didn’t make sense. Got major decisions right but both sets of players almost never agreed with him. No huge calls needed.

Inter – 5: 1 step forward and 2 backwards. Good outing with the 3-5-2 but no answer to simple diagonal long balls in two consecutive games. Work in progress.

Will Radja’s addition serve Inter well? What should Spalletti have done differently?
