Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta discussed the interest from Inter over the summer while reaffirming his commitment to fighting for a place in the Blues team.

“Could I return to Italy? Yes, Inter had been after me. My agent Alessandro Lucci had told me about their interest, although I have always remained focused on Chelsea,” the 26-year-old confirmed in an interview with Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian international then spoke on the possibility of coming back in January when the Italian transfer window opens once more.

“Could I return to Italy in January? I have three more years on my contract here and I only want to think about doing well with Chelsea.

“There is a lot of competition here, but I want to win a place in the team. It is clear that if I did not find much room, I do not think any player would like that…”
