Former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Dino Zoff has called for Inter to find a ‘tactical identity’ following their slow start to the Serie A season.

The Nerazzurri were widely tipped to be Juventus’s most credible rival for the Scudetto this season after an eye-catching summer transfer window that saw them bring in seven new faces, but they have only collected one point from their opening two games and are under pressure to secure a first win against Bologna on Saturday.

Zoff, who made over 300 appearances for Juventus and coached the Italian national team at Euro 2000, believes Luciano Spalletti still needs time to figure out his best team and has urged supporters and onlookers to stop talking about Luka Modric, who could have joined the club in the summer.

“I think Inter need to find a tactical identity which will enable them to make the most of their summer signings,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview on Friday.

“It would also be better if people stopped talking about Modric – it could become an excuse for everyone at the club.”
