Pippo Inzaghi has told his Bologna players that they will need ‘the perfect performance’ to beat Inter this weekend.

The Nerazzurri have picked up just one point from their first two games of the new Serie A season and are under pressure to collect all three points on Saturday, when they will travel to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

However Inzaghi was keen to take the pressure off his side during his pre-match press conference by playing down their chances of surprising Luciano Spalletti’s men, insisting that Inter remain contenders for the Scudetto this season.

“Inter are aiming for the Scudetto this season, it goes without saying that on paper there’s no contest between us and them,” he told reporters.

“We have nothing to lose though. We’ll need the perfect performance. They can draw upon the likes of Nainggolan, Keita and Candreva, all great players, but we’ve prepared for the game by focusing on our qualities and not theirs.

“Nine of the players who started against Frosinone [last weekend] will start again in this match; I’ll settle my final doubts [on the other two spots] tomorrow.

“Do I feel like this is a sort of derby for me? I’m concentrated on the present, I’m Bologna’s head coach and all I want is for everyone here to be proud of me.”
