Real Madrid’s Croatian international midfielder Luka Modric was awarded the UEFA Player of The Year during yesterday’s group stage draw of this season’s the Champions League.

After the draw the FIFA World Cup Player of The Tournament was interviewed by the gathering press in the mixed zone of the Grimaldi Forum where he was asked about his future at Real Madrid following Inter’s interest in the player towards the end of the transfer window.

The former Spurs midfielder declared his love for the Los Merengues stating that: “I am not happy, I am extremely happy at Real Madrid. I want to continue playing for this club for many years to come.”

This follows reports in Italy which state that the Nerazzurri could try to make a move for Modric when the transfer window opens in January but based on this statement that looks very unlikely to happen which further adds fuel to the rumor that the former Spurs man will soon sign a contract extension with Real Madrid.
