Speaking during a press conference Inter youth academy graduate Marco Benassi praised former Inter manager Andrea Stramaccioni for giving him his debut at the tender age of 18.

“It takes courage to throw in young players so I need to thank Stramaccioni who gave me my debut in Serie A at the age of 18 for Inter,” Benassi, who now suits up for fellow Serie A outfit Fiorentina said.

The 23-year-old midfielder also believes he is currently enjoying the greatest playing spell of his career.

“I started the season with a greater sense of mental freedom and calmness, I already knew what the Coach wanted and benefited from that. With my characteristics, I look to score as often as possible but the performance of the team overall remains the most important thing.”

Benassi made a total of thirteen appearances in an Inter jersey before being moved on to Torino in 2014 as part of a deal that brought full back Danilo D’Ambrosio to the San Siro.
